The Education Foundation of Collier County — Champions For Learning Celebrates the Graduation of 77 Student Programs Seniors

On Saturday, May 16, The Education Foundation of Collier County — Champions For Learning hosted its annual Countdown to Cap and Gown ceremony at Florida Gulf Coast University’s Alico Arena, celebrating 77 graduating seniors from its Student Programs.

During the ceremony, each senior crossed the stage to celebrate their accomplishments and announce their postsecondary plans. Students were joined by their families, mentors, and supporters to recognize the hard work, perseverance, and dedication that brought them to this milestone as they prepare for the next chapter of their educational journeys.

To date, the Champions For Learning Class of 2026 has achieved:
• 100% high school graduation rate
• More than 230 college acceptances
• Over 19,000 volunteer service hours completed
• More than $1 million in scholarships awarded by Champions For Learning, plus an additional $1.5 million in outside scholarships earned
• 28 students eligible to receive a Florida Bright Futures Scholarship

The ceremony featured remarks from Champions For Learning alumna Paulina Gomez, Class of 2019, who shared how the program helped shape her path to college and inspired her to return as a volunteer mentor. Senior class speaker Ennis Spahiu also reflected on the impact of his mentor and the support he received through Champions For Learning as he prepares to attend the University of Florida this fall.

Champions For Learning also recently announced the expansion of its Student Programs through the launch of a new Pathways to Success track. The expansion comes as a response to a growing need for students from low income families that see college and career pathways as out of reach without access to the guidance, mentorship, and financial aid support needed to navigate the process. As this year’s graduating seniors celebrate their achievements and next steps, the organization is doubling the number of students entering the program each year with this expansion.

“Each of these students has demonstrated incredible determination, resilience, and commitment to their future,” said Dr. Eric Williams. “As we celebrate their achievements, we are also excited about the opportunity to help more students in Collier County reach their full potential.”
