8th Grade
Pathways to Success - Foundations
Eighth grade students are able to apply to Champions For Learning’s Pathways to Success – Foundations program. Selected students remain enrolled in the program until they graduate from high school.
Pathways to Success is one of Champions For Learning’s College and Career Prep Programs and is designed for students in grades 8 through 12 to help them navigate pathways for post-secondary success. Through consistent and structured out-of-school time programming elements, Pathways to Success will equip and prepare students for achieving their future academic and career goals.
Students selected for the program are matched with a caring mentor who meets with the students on a regular basis at school or using approved, monitored virtual options. Students will participate in college access workshops offered in-person at Champions For Learning, which cover relevant topics such as the college admissions process, financial aid, and college selection. They will also meet with their College Success Coach frequently to monitor academic progress and develop post-high school education and career plans.
The program incorporates and emphasizes relevant skills and components that have been proven to be highly effective for students seeking either college or career readiness. Students will discover the various pathways that are available to them post-high school graduation. They will explore a variety of career and technical opportunities with local businesses and learn how to navigate the complex college admissions, scholarship, and financial aid processes. With opportunities for college and career coaching, mentorship, engaging workshops, hands-on lab sessions, off-site learning opportunities, and scholarship awards upon high school graduation, students will be empowered to make informed life decisions regarding their educational and vocational pursuits.
