Golden Apple Recognition Program

About Golden Apple

The Golden Apple Teacher Recognition process in Collier County Public Schools continues to be an opportunity to highlight teachers’ best practices.  It allows the community to see what is happening in our public schools and helps teachers refine their best practices and learn how to share them beyond their own classroom.

Annually, Champions For Learning invites each Collier County Public School to put forward a teacher and best practice to highlight.  That teacher will be recognized as the Teacher of Distinction from that school, so that all Collier County Public Schools can be represented at the Golden Apple Celebration of Teachers.   A Teacher of Distinction is one who is willing to share their best practice with the community and other teachers; will participate in peer learning and networking; and has a best practice that results in demonstrable student success.

A community-based committee meets each Teacher of Distinction and learns about their best practice throughout the process, eventually selecting six teachers (three elementary and three secondary) to highlight as Golden Apple recipients.

Sharing Best Practices

Sharing best practices is integral to the teaching profession.  Through the Golden Apple Teacher Recognition Program, teachers with engaging and innovative classroom strategies are given the opportunity to share them with the community and with each other, knowing that this is part of the learning and refining process.
