Consider a Charitable IRA Rollover Gift!
The Charitable IRA Rollover gift commonly called Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCDs) is a unique opportunity for donors over age 70 1/2. Federal legislation allows you to make a tax-free distribution from your IRA directly to a qualified charity, such as the Education Foundation of Collier County – Champions For Learning. This type of gift lowers your adjusted gross income and effectively reduces your income taxes.
· Distributions must be made from your IRA trustee account directly to Champions For Learning for this gift to count as part of your qualified charitable distribution.
· In 2023 gifts up to $100,000 are eligible and beginning in 2024 this amount will increase annually for inflation.
· This type of gift may help you to satisfy your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD). Beginning in 2023, if you do not withdraw your RMD, you will face a penalty tax of 25% of the required withdrawal amount. QCDs can be used to meet this RMD requirement and avoid penalties.
